1. Comparing the 60W and 100W Jackery panels, both are keepers

I got both the 100W and the lighter-weight 60W, so this review is a comparison. I would have just bought the 60W first, but it was out of stock, so I bought the 100W one, then the 60W became available again a day later. Thanks to Prime free shipping, I figured I would compare them and keep the one I thought better suited my needs.

The 100W is sturdy, solid, has the capacity to charge off 2 built in USB ports directly. A very well designed panel, I liked it a lot. It is pretty big, and would take some wind without being bothered. It weighs 9 lbs.

The 60W is much flimsier. It weighs only 3 lbs. It would blow around in a lighter wind. It has no way to charge anything off it directly, only the hookup to the Jackery battery power station (I got the 240. Love it.). The 60W is also $120 cheaper than the 100W. You can see why, when you sit them side by side. There’s just less to it. But it does its job perfectly.

Both have a zippered pouch for storing the connection cable right with the panel. Both have kickstands that help the panel stand up at an angle. The 100 W is more secure with its two kickstands than the 60W is with its three parts and only one kickstand; but you can put the battery behind it to help hold it up, which also keeps battery out of direct sun. The 100 W holds itself closed with magnets. If you want to carry it with one hand, you’d need to buy the separate case. The 60 W has snaps and becomes a sweet little portfolio type thing with a handle. You can carry both it and the battery station easily with one hand.

So it all depends what you want.

I set them up side by side and used the battery station as a meter. Under the same conditions (sunny day in November), the 100 W was putting out 63 Watts, the 60 W was putting out 50. (Other reviews say the battery charges at 43 W, so each would work equally well if that’s true.)

One other time I tested it, the Jackery SolarSaga 60W panel was putting out 52 watts. Good job, in weaker autumn sun!

I’m keeping the smaller and less expensive 60W one. I like its lightness and smaller bulk, and I don’t think I’ll have many occasions when I would want to charge something and not have the battery with me. (But like many others, I wish that Jackery offered an adapter for the plug that would let you charge from the 60W panel directly. )

Customer service says the 100W will charge the battery quicker. On an inefficient/less sunny day, I’m sure it would make a difference. You could also charge the battery and your phone or whatever separately and at the same time. It’s a terrific solar panel. I give it 5 stars because it’s just personal preference that I want something less big and heavy.

I give the 60W one 5 stars too. And am very happy to have it on hand to be better prepared for the next outage. Unless it happens in a winter storm, in which case any solar panel would be useless–but I’d still have the charged up battery to get me through at least a couple days of being able to stay quite functional.

2. Jackery SolarSaga 60W – perfect for small spaces to get big results

I use the Jackery SolarSaga 60W to charge my Jackery 240 which recharges a lot of handheld devices on a daily basis. The panel is lightweight, compact and sets up in less than a minute. While parked in your camper, RV, car, truck, etc. you can place the panel on your dashboard faced toward the sun with the 240 charging on the floorboard. This works well in sunny areas while you are shopping, hiking, and don’t want to leave the panel outside. The long cord hook-up works great to allow the Solar Saga to be placed in full sun while the 240 and your devices being charged can be in the shade or inside your vehicle. In my opinion for the size, charging capabilities, and weight, the Solar Saga is ahead of the competition and the ease of use is a big factor.

3. Great Job! – Jackery SolarSaga 60W

I can safely say that once you are in the Jackery family you will be hooked and looking for the next addition to it! So when they came out with the Jackery SolarSaga 60W solar panel I was very excited to get my hands on one.

I’ve had some time to test mine out now and a really like it. I was amazed by how small it was when I pulled it out of the box! It’s 11” x 16” and only a half inch thick all folded up. It’s tri-folded with snaps to keep it together and has a pocket on one side for the 8 foot cable that comes with it. Everything is very self contained and even has a built in handle for carrying.

I tested it out for several days and found that even though it’s rated for up to 60 Watts it mostly put out a steady 36 – 38 Watts with occasional spikes into the 50 and 60 Watt range. I’m in New England and we aren’t into the brightest days of the year yet so that output may change. However even at 36 – 38 Watts it manages to charge up at a reasonable speed. The regular wall charger only sends out 41 Watts so the solar panel is not far behind in output.

The manual says to be careful how you clean it (use a soft cloth) and to not let it get wet. I found that that is true with the cleaning. You don’t want to scratch up the panels or you will impact your output. And you will want to make sure it’s put away if you think a storm is going to come through overnight.

All in all, I’m really happy with Jackery SolarSaga 60W and look forward to putting it to good use! It is incredibly portable and will do a good job at keeping your Jackery battery packs fully charged! I’m a big solar power fan and this little setup of the 60 Watt Solar Panel and Jackery 160 is a great tool to have for whatever adventure your heading out into!

4. Excellent Jackery SolarSaga 60W! Portable, powerful, and well made.

I’m an avid astrophotographer. I wanted dependable solar panels to charge my Jackery Explorer 500 and 240 power stations during the day, then use that power to run my imaging rig all night while shooting planets and deep space images. I ended up buying both the Jackery SolarSaga 60 watt and 100 watt panels and I couldn’t be happier with how they perform. The 60 watt is a great match for the Explorer 240. The 240’s charge controller limits the input to about 40 watts so the 60 watt panel is perfect for it. Even with that limitation, it charges the 240 quickly. I use the 100 watt panel to charge the larger Explorer 500 power station and they work well together. I have used this 60 watt panel to charge the Explorer 500 but it takes a little longer. The 500 can charge at around 80 watts so it saves time using the larger panel for charging it.

The Jackery SolarSaga 60W panel is easy to use because it’s very light and has a handy kickstand on the back to get it angled up at the sun. It has snaps to keep it folded when not in use. The material is very high quality and should stand up to heavy use for many years.

I did buy a Rockpals 60 watt panel and while it works well, it’s output isn’t quite as good as the Jackery Solarsaga 60 nor is it as easy to use (see photo). The Jackery produces more power with just the three panels vs the Rockpal’s four panels. The Jackery power stations charged by the panels allow me to do some nice planetary and deep sky work.

5. Security and Communications are Vital in an emergency and Jackery provides both.

Today was my test day and I must say I am extremely happy with this product. After reviewing many videos, and product reviews I chose the Jackery 240 watt solar generator. Besides camping, I live in a hurricane prone area and when we lose power it could be weeks before we get it back. With low wattage LED lights and the ability to keep my emergency radios and laptop charged it provides the security to my wife and I. Having a gasoline generator is fine for a little while but eventually you run out of fuel, you need to change the oil constantly and chances are if you don’t have power neither will the gas stations. I have charged my laptop, two phones, hand held radios, emergency lighting and tested it with my CPAP and all worked well. When I need to evacuate this will go with me and when I return having a solar generator will be vital for communication. I would also like to mention the sales / service department that answered all of my questions. I took this with me to the VFW post told them why I got this and told them about the other products offered by Jackery, and my fellow post members were interested and are considering getting one of there own.

6. Charges my Jackery 160 in 5 hrs peak sun

This is the jackery solar saga 60 watt and the power station 160. I picked the less powerful power station because it has a c port for Nintendo switch. I wish I’d gone bigger now, but everyone has to start somewhere. My budget was limited. This station runs my Ryobi fan (kick-ass fan but charging that bulky battery in stealth mode was tricky so I was going without a fan in California valley heat) on high plus charges my phone and Nook tablet all at the same time. I’ve tested it and it runs my grooming clippers too. I have a lumi solar lantern for light but this power station has a light on it if I need it. This winter when the sun isn’t up to the task the 160 power station will fully charge at a wall outlet in 5 hours.

7. None better on the market and no company will ever treat you better

Okay, I will start out by saying I am a U.S Service-member with over twenty years of Honorable service. With that being said I’ve done multiple tours to almost every desert in the Middle East, tours in tropical environments, tours in some pretty secluded off grid undisclosed locations. I only put this out there because I’ve had the pleasure of being a Jackery customer for years and years and the Jackery 240 portable power station, , the Jackery Solar Saga 60w tri-fold panels, and the small Jackery portable chargers were compact and lightweight enough to fit into my pack with ease and leave me room for the other essentials.

Imagine being in the middle of nowhere and have a weeks worth of power at your fingertips for recharges, lights, portable fans, small burner for coffee and cooking. Then being able to say it never failed you, always recharged quickly, and has been through the worlds harshest conditions and environments, yet functions like the day you pulled it out of the box. So this began my Jackery passion. Which led me to purchase the Jackery 500. Everything I’ve said above applies to the 500 ten fold folks. Being Military my pay isn’t great so I’ve had to accumulate these items over the course of years, however never have I had to justify spending the money to my wife, as long as I said the word Jackery. Because she’s used the items as well here at home guard. My son plays Football and daughter plays soccer in the Nevada desert just miles away from where the annual Burning Man event is held. Hot dry desert climate, no trees for shade, just direct unrelenting heat. This genius woman, the love of my life used our Jackery Portable power stations to run dual fans, and a small refrigerated trucker cooler during daytime practices in a pop up sunshade tent, all neatly placed in one of those little soccer mom wheeled totes, and a folding low loveseat chair.

Talk about super mom, with lots of friends who also wanted to stay cool. Then when night fell and the kids weren’t finished with practice, my lovely wife handed over the Jackery 500 to the coaches who then plugged LED lights into it and lit up the field for the kids giving us an extra hour or two to practice without the heat. This convinced her to give me permission to buy the SolarSaga 100w panels. Money was tight but she gave me the go ahead and we’ve never looked back and haven’t got an ounce of regret or buyers remorse for a single product. But this review is neither for the the Jackery 240, the Jackery 500, the SolarSaga 100w or 60w panels. It’s not even for the Jackery portable chargers. This review is to let you know, the day the Jackery 1000w Portable Power Station became available we did not hesitate for a second to buy it. With the stories we heard from friends about California and Washington power outages, the Covid-19 Pandemic, and any one of the many RV trips we take into Gods country to get away from it all for a few weeks, we both agreed this was the best thing for our family.

Why use heavy loud generators, carry fuel, deal with all that monotonous nonsense, when you could literally live off the Jackery Families products. I say Family because over the years I’ve had multiple email contacts and numerous phone calls with them, and every interaction was amazing. Courteous, professional, and the products are literally second to none. The Jackery 1000 is my newest addition and there’s nothing I can say about it that the 240 or 500 don’t already represent. Twice the power, twice the life, multiple solar panel options, can recharge through car, wall, or good ol sunshine. I could get technical and go down the path as some of these reviewers do, but you anyone can read the box. I can sum everything the box says by just telling you that these products, put out by this amazing company, can enhance anyone’s life, save somebodies life, and will probably last your the rest of yours. It’s a no brainer for us. I’ve purchased every product so far with a smile knowing its perfect and the people handing it to me care enough to treat you as if you were family. Most portable lightweight panels on the market. Charge times and wattages nearly exceed that of our RVs eight 4ft x 2ft panels

8. Great solar panel! – Jackery SolarSaga 60W

The Jackery SolarSaga 60W is amazing. The solar panel combined with the Explorer 160 made for a fantastic day on the lake. We were able to inflate way too many floats, run a radio, and charge a few phones without any issues thanks to being able to quickly top off the battery. I was surprised how quickly this panel was able to charge my battery. This will be with us on every camping trip and lake day.

I have been using my panel more often and I had someone ask for details on it. So I came back to this page and the product being sold now is nothing like what I bought. The addition of a stand is awesome and I wish mine had it. The USB C break out also is something I wish mine had came with. I think what is being sold now should have a different title such as the Jackery SolarSaga 60W Solar Panel to differentiate the very different versions

9. Glad I didn’t buy a cheaper panel

I debated whether or not to buy a cheaper panel than the Jackery. Ultimately, I decided the kickstands, the magnetic closure, the ability to charge usb and USB-c directly from the panel, and the proper charging input without the need for an adapter for my 240 were worth the price. I don’t have other panels to compare it to, but I can say that, so far, I am 100% happy I chose the SolarSaga. For one, I didn’t realize that it’s actually a 68w vs a 60w panel. I’m testing it as we speak and am currently getting 65w out of it when the sun peaks out and 25w when it goes behind the clouds. That’s at 10:30 am. For two, I also didn’t realize that my 240 unit could handle that. I thought it topped out at 42w input. Apparently the later models can? During my testing yesterday the unit rose from 0% to 34% in 2 hours. I did have good sun and was getting about 50 watts. We’ll see what it does when the sun won’t come out at all, but so far I can say that is plenty for my use. My wife and I camp every other weekend and never fully drain the 240 in a day, so I think we’ll be able to top it off every day no problem with 2 or 3 hours of mediocre sunshine. That alone makes it a game changer for us. We’re going camping again in10 days.

10. Great products!

Due to the pandemic, I decided to upgrade my emergency kits. I came across the Jackery products here on Amazon and read hundreds of great reviews, and now I am hooked.

I started out with the Jackery 240. I liked it so much that I immediately ordered the 500. Then they came out with the 1000, so I got that one, too. I also got two of the Jackery 60w solar panels, as well as two of the 100w solar panels. All of the products are amazing. They are easy to use, quiet, very portable, and they look great.

All of the power stations come with a wall charger and a car charger, as well as a pouch for the chargers. I really like how Jackery includes the pouch so chargers aren’t all over the place.

The solar panels have a zippered pouch attached on the outside, which is also great. The cables that connect the solar panel to the power station are long, so you can keep the power station out of the sun while you recharge it. You can also charge your small devices directly from the solar panels (when they are in the sun) via a USB port.

The 60w solar panels cannot be connected to each other (as far as I can tell), but you can connect two of the 100w solar panels together. The connector is included with the Jackery 1000 power station, not the solar panels.

One thing to note about the Jackery 1000 (besides having more power) is the DC 12v output (i.e., cigarette lighter hole) is now covered with a rubber flap. There were many reviews that complained about that being exposed, and it seems that Jackery listened.

Jackery makes carrying/storage cases for the power stations, too. I have one for the Jackery 240, and it is a very nice case. I will probably get one for the 500 and 1000 in the near future. I haven’t used these products extensively yet, but I look forward to years of use whether camping, traveling, power outages, etc. A huge thumbs up — I definitely recommend.
